Jimmy Eat World Info:

Jimmy Eat World is an American rock band. They formed in Mesa, Arizona in 1993. Singer/guitarist Jim Adkins and drummer Zach Lind, who had been friends since preschool, joined with guitarist Tom Linton and bass player Mitch Porter to try their hand at music. -Wikipedia

From:
Mesa, Arizona, United States

Genres:
Alternative rock, emo, power pop, pop punk

Years active:
1993-present

Name Origin:
Contrary to popular belief, the band name acronym (JEW) is not a reference to the band's religious beliefs, nor to member Jim Adkins.

The band's name came from a crayon drawing made after an incident between Linton's younger brothers, Jim and Ed Linton, who fought frequently. Jim usually won, but Ed sought revenge by drawing a picture of Jim shoving the Earth into his mouth; the picture bore the caption
"Jimmy eat world".

Jimmy Eat World Quotes:
"It means everything and nothing," he said over the rumble of the van's motor and the howl of an open window. "If you had a roomful of people and ask them what 'punk' means, you'd get a roomful of different answers. I used to cringe when someone asked us how it feels to play music in the 'emo movement.' I still cringe. I used to care, but now... whatever. People need labels." (Lazyeye Interview)

Yeah, I think that it bummed us out that we didn't even know that kids weren't allowed to take pictures at our shows. We thought that it was stupid, so we took it a step further, where fans can email their pictures to our website then choose the best ten of each month and then post them on the site.

Lately, we've been playing this game on our laptops called Battlefield: 1942. We bring this wireless router with us. We played a show the other night and we were literally playing Battlefield: 1942 until five minutes before we went on. It might be a little irresponsible, but we just can't pull ourselves away from all of the violence on our laptops.

No, we don't watch it, but we may have once joked that we have. I have a limited amount of time at home, so I usually watch World Series of Poker.
