Thought it was an animal when we first found remains
In a dilapidated barn
Way out in the plains
Us lawmen hitched our horses outside in the rain
And inspected the mutilated torso hanging from the frame
No identity
No evidence bestowed
Not a weapon in sight
Forever a John doe
Took us half an hour
Just to find the head
And as for the arms and legs
We've found
Nothing yet
Chest cavity is open
But we can't find the lungs or the heart
No signs of a blade
Wounds more similar to bite marks
I see its eyes glow in the dark
Blood's stench fills the air
For you wear deaths mark
No signs of escape
Cause we were doomed right from the start
Creature stalking angrily with its teeth bared there's blood dripping
Tearing through our flesh no remorse
We've walked into misery
Lives are fading fast through gaping wounds our blood's leaking
Now the only trace of life's a pile of remains
Will somebody ever find me
No identity
No evidence bestowed
Not a weapon in sight
Forever a John
Doe
