Kōji Tamaki (玉置浩二) is a Japanese singer-songwriter and actor, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Anzen Chitai. The group debuted in 1982 and rose to major popularity, especially throughout the 1980s. Tamaki later launched a solo career in the 1990s and has since become widely celebrated as one of Japan's finest vocalists.
In 2014, a panel of 200 experts named him the greatest singing voice in Japan. Later, in 2021, he was again honored- this time voted the top active male singer in the country. The 190 experts involved praised him as a "living national treasure of music," noting his unmatched emotional depth and expressive power, which they say continues to grow stronger with age.
