Phoebe Bridgers - Lost Weekend Album Lyrics

Phoebe Bridgers - Lost Weekend Lyrics

The Outside

Crying in a suit and tie
+
But you should see the other guy
+
One more time for old times sake
+
I'll watch him get carried away
+
Fist through the drywall, I'm frozen in place
+
But not afraid
+
When I am on the outside, watching
+
I am on the outside, watching
+
I dive into a crowd
+
And they never let me hit the ground
+
Way beyond the barricade
+
Ohio, carry me away
+
Screaming my own name, fist in the air
+
You were there
+
But I was on the outside, watching
+
I am on the outside, watching
+

Lost Boys

On a motor bike
+
Doing 90 in a 55
+
To another life
+
Where they make you cut your hair
+
Impatient with a rifle and your papers
+
Weightless but not scared
+
This machine is killing me
+
I pretended it was make believe
+
Lost boys
+
Never grow up, never go home
+
Lost boys
+
Never spend their lunch money, yeah
+
Lost boys
+
Never grow up, never get old
+
Lost boys
+
Find me
+
That one time in East Berlin
+
When you threw a tantrum with a 57
+
And broke a rib
+
You told me you wish you were dead
+
But I don't believe that
+
I still wonder how you're sleeping
+
I don't feel bad, but I'm sorry
+
In a twin bed
+
Where all will be forgiven in an instant
+
Hands in each other's hair
+
We are born again
+
So who cares where we're going
+
In the morning, you are not there
+
Lost boys
+
Never grow up, never go home
+
Lost boys
+
Never spend their lunch money, yeah
+
Lost boys

Never give up, never get old

Kill Me

Times are scary
+
My boys are getting married
+
Turning twenty-one
+
I'm not, but I was once certain, always
+
Now all I know is the ending
+
This is gonna kill me, wait
+
This is gonna kill me, wait
+
Costume party, when the veil was thinning
+
He kissed me hello
+
He tastes like a flower with chemical petals
+
Bobby, you taught me that I know nothing
+
This is gonna kill me, wait
+
This is gonna kill me, wait
+
Wait
+
Tamám Shud

Let's go missing

The Governor's Waltz

[ a highlighted line to view added info ]

I was the belle of the Governor's Ball
+
Shelley Duvall was an American actress most well known for her role as Wendy Torrance in "The Shining." In an iconic scene, Shelley Duvall hides in a bathroom from her axe-wielding husband, played by Jack Nicholson.
Hiding in the bathroom like Shelley Duvall
+
You had a nosebleed, you were in my way
+
And you didn't remind me of anything
+
So, let's see how long we can go without touching
+
Why don't you sing me to sleep?
+
I know you'd never actually think about jumping
+
But do it for me
+
Two kids in a trench coat living alone
+
I was too happy to feel at home
+
Dancing ourselves clean late New Year's Eve
+
You deserved better, you wanted me
+
So, let's see how long we can go without talking
+
Watching me pretending to sleep
+
I'm next to you, you're next to nothing
+
You promised that you'd never leave
+
But maybe you'll do it for me
+
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh)
+
(Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh)
+
Now, let's see how far I can run without stopping
+
And she can pretend to be me
+
Since she took my place in my bed on that stage
+
I have not lost any sleep
+
Being myself wasn't easy
+
Do it for me

Bobby

I saw you slow dancing alone in your room
+
I wanted to buy you a new pair of shoes
+
Now you're walking around with my heart on your sleeve
+
And I am right here bleeding
+
Oh-oh
+
Oh, no
+
So you followed me home like you'd done it before
+
And you had to bend over to get through the door
+
And if you didn't like either one of my friends
+
I'd kill them, I'd kill them
+
Bobby, this could be the end of wanting
+
Now I sleep in your shirts and you live in my house
+
You sing in the shower, I talk to myself
+
We've got stars on the ceiling and clothes on the floor
+
And a thing in a box I don't touch anymore
+
Bobby, this could be the end of wanting
+
I exist only if you're watching
+
Oh-oh
+
This could be the end
+
This could be the end
+
This could be the end
+
This could be the end
+
Now, I don't know if I can make it tonight
+
But what are you doing the rest of my life, Bobby?

Lost Weekend

Back when no one could tell us apart
+
And I'd turn down the music to parallel park
+
We were playing for no one on top of the world
+
I talk in my sleep, and you kiss like a girl
+
Then when the van broke down in the heat wave
+
You took off your pants on the side of the freeway
+
I had the thought you would outlive me
+
I loved you, and you couldn't forgive me for that
+
I think I know why you've been blowing me off
+
I've been using my friends and losing the plot
+
Surviving my gift until I get shot
+
I'm supposed to be married, but I called it off
+
I've been known to throw a tantrum
+
When things are not the way I imagine them
+
I am restoring the natural order
+
Learning the same lesson over and over again
+
Lying awake, you were glow in the dark
+
Lying to me with your hand on my heart
+
It's all gonna be alright, we'll make it through
+
You know me, and I'll never forgive you for that
+

Haunted

It is not this house that's haunted
+
But I don't want it either way
+
I've been daydreaming about sleeping
+
But by the evening, I am wide awake
+
I'm off to see an old friend
+
We're gonna get on the road again
+
I'll be waving from the plane
+
I'll see the sky and the ocean
+
A couple ibuprofen
+
And I'm sleeping all the way (woo)
+
(I have no hope) I have no secrets, only feelings
+
And I know those go away
+
There is a difference between lying
+
And deciding what not to say
+
So I'm putting on my makeup while they're lighting the stage up
+
Just like candles in a cake
+
If you're gonna make a wish, then you better be specific
+
You're gonna have to live it every day
+
I'm gonna put myself together
+
You can go or you can stay
+
I'm gonna put myself together
+
Either way
+
'Til then, I'm gonna listen to the song of the siren
+
No, I am not afraid (I am not afraid)
+
You won't have to open a heart that's broken
+
Water's gonna flow in either way (flow in either way)
+
My heart is rolling either way

Still Standing

Pushed head first into the world
+
Just to be thrown in the street when you're dressed like a girl
+
An angel in the snow, accident prone
+
You left your suitcase by the bed
+
Like you needed to know you could go whenever you wanted
+
And I'm out on my feet
+
But I am still standing
+
At the top of the stairs, turning red
+
Pound for pound in a prom dress
+
You try to make me afraid
+
We were both shining
+
Feeling indifferent, wearing black
+
Sometimes I want you back
+
But not today
+
I found her bleeding over the sink
+
But when you said sorry
+
You were looking at me
+
I can't remember what I said
+
But I didn't mean it
+
I wasn't too young to understand
+
I just didn't think it was so bad
+
And it wasn't, in a way
+
And now there is nothing
+
Your back to the ocean, burning red
+
I can't imagine you dead
+
But you are every day
+
Thank you for everything
+
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

Liberty Tree

Liberty Tree Mall
+
In the photobooth
+
This place is dying
+
We don't care if we're living proof
+
I'm sticking out my tongue
+
And lifting up my shirt
+
Not getting any younger, honey
+
But if we don't try, how can we be sure?
+
You were made in the image of God
+
But you look like your mom
+
In this picture of us
+
Falling in love that night
+
After our fight
+
And the past is looking brighter all the time
+
I'm running through the airport
+
Still putting on my shoes
+
Not feeling any better
+
I got too much money and nothing to lose
+
I was alone with my thoughts
+
In an outline of chalk
+
Flying close to the sun with my sunglasses on
+
Don't die, Bobby
+
Before I die
+
It feels so good to have you in my life

Hey, Phoebe, it's your dad
+
Uh, I know you're busy

Being a rock star takes up a lot of your time, I'm guessing

You're everywhere, dude

Anyway, give me a call if you get a chance

Love you

Other Plans

I remember the day I created the world
+
I got blood on my favorite shirt
+
You were shaking like a final girl
+
I got what I deserved
+
That night, I had a dream that I was sleeping
+
I should not have driven home
+
I was gonna show you colors you had never seen
+
And leave you alone
+
But our love
+
Our love, our love had other plans for us
+
Our love, honey
+
Our love, our love had other plans
+
Mm

I Can't Wait

Baby, baby, if you leave me
+
Can you take me with you?
+
I can sit in the backseat
+
Sometimes, when the night is quiet
+
I'll turn all the lights on
+
Like the end of a movie
+
I can't wait, but I'm waiting
+
I'm still up, but I'm fading
+
Not so slowly getting older
+
California sober
+
I live by the water
+
Go dancing with my understudy
+
Could be anybody, make me an offer
+
I'm not good, but I'm better
+
I miss my cue, but whatever
+
It's now or never
+
All my life
+
Side by side
+
Hyde Jekyll Hyde
+
Finally together
+
You can change your mind
+
But you can't change mine
+
Hyde Jekyll Hyde
+
You and I forever
+
Walking early in the morning
+
While you're still sleeping
+
And the credits are rolling
+
I don't know why I'm crying
+
Until we're dead or die trying
+
Ah-ah-ah
+
Ah-ah-ah
+
Ah-ah-ah
+
Ah-ah-ah
+

As Above

Trying not to look down
+
Making faces at a kid on the plane
+
Trying not to freak out about being a couple days late
+
Started watching a movie
+
One where they go back in time
+
And it got to me, I don't know why
+
As above, so below
+
As above, so below
+
I thought about Air Force One flying over Omaha
+
I thought about my mom driving herself to the hospital
+
I'm always looking for the exit
+
I've never been afraid of heights
+
Now I don't want to live forever
+
But I don't wanna die
+
Before I take you to Coney Island
+
Screaming on the Wonder Wheel
+
You're gonna take me for granted, but I can handle it
+
Whatever happens after, it doesn't matter
+
You won't have to believe in magic
+
Leave it to me and I'll make it happen
+
You won't have to believe in magic
+
Leave it to me and I'll make it happen
+
You can't imagine, I can't imagine
+
As above, so below
+
As above, so below
+
As it was, so it goes

Lost Weekend (Reprise)

He never made it a day in a shirt
+
He's not comin' back as a bird
+
He's not coming back
+
He's not coming back
+
But I still live by the things he taught me
+
Like how to forgive when they're not sorry
+
And the government isn't tryna kill you
+
They just don't care if they kill you
+
I am my old man's oldest son
+
I fought the wall and the wall won
+
But if I ever come out of hiding
+
You won't have to know how to find me again
+
Now I can't see any stars in the sky
+
When a dream comes true, a fantasy dies
+
But we're gonna be alright, me and you
+
You love me and I won't еver let you forget, not yеt
+
Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh
+

Lost Weekend is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers. It was released on August 14, 2026, through Dead Oceans under MGM Music. Marking her first solo release in six years, the album continues Bridgers' signature indie folk style while exploring electronica and ambient genres. Lyrically, Lost Weekend discusses grief, love, disillusion from fame, and is thematically centered around the death of Bridgers' father in 2022.

In producing the album, Bridgers enlisted long-time collaborators Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska. Other prominent contributors include Jack Antonoff, Alex G, Bo Burnham, Cameron Winter, and Bridgers' collaborators from Boygenius, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. To promote the album, Bridgers will embark on The Lost Tour from September to December 2026. The album received critical acclaim.

Lost Weekend sees Bridgers explore past high-profile relationships, the formation of a stable new relationship, grief and dissociation with her fame. On the title track, Bridgers alludes to her engagement and breakup with Paul Mescal in 2022 with her singing "I'm supposed to be married, but I called it off". Bridgers also discusses her 2021 performance at the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City where she was "hiding in the bathroom like Shelley Duvall".

Bridgers deals with the difficult relationship with her father, Tony Bridgers, and his death in December 2022 on "Still Standing". A voicemail from Tony Bridgers is featured on Never Going Back! backed by a banjo instrumental. Lost Weekend is dedicated to her father.

The album's track list was revealed on July 28, 2026. From August 10 to August 14, the album was debuted at thirty-four planetaria across Europe, North America, and Oceania. The ticketed events, sponsored by Spotify, took one of two forms: a dome show designed by Babak Tafreshi or a laser show by Laser Fantasy. Additionally, more than three hundred locations offered official album listening parties on the night of August 13. The August 14 album release was accompanied by the music video for I Can't Wait, directed by Chris Maggio and Pablo Rochat.
