Riley Green - That's Just Me Lyrics

Damn, I think you're gorgeous
+
Like them back home dogwoods in the spring
+
Hell, I can't avoid it
+
Baby, you're the only thing I need
+
Heaven's gotta be a full moon sky
+
With you on a back porch swing
+
But, maybe that's just me
+
Do you ever go down memory lane
+
When you're tryna sleep?
+
Do you ever pour out a little too
+
Much whiskey in your drink?
+
Do you ever drive by my house
+
Thinkin' about how it used to be
+
Or is that just me?
+
It's just me all alone here dyin'
+
Tryin' to find a way to get over you
+
I can't see any way out of this missin' you
+
Hell that I'm going through
+
If you're doin' fine with your bottle of wine
+
Then baby let that telephone ring
+
Cause it's just me
+
Damn, I want you bad
+
And I keep replayin' every scene
+
Lord, if I could go back
+
I'd do all I could to change everything
+
And every night I dream of holdin' you tight
+
Then I wake up and see, that it's just me
+
Yeah, it's just me all alone here dyin'
+
Tryin' to find a way to get over you
+
I can't see any way out of this missin' you
+
Hell that I'm going through
+
If you're doin' fine with your bottle of wine
+
Then baby let that telephone ring
+
Cause it's just me
+
Yeah, It's just me
+
This pain won't fade no matter what I do
+
I'm startin' to think that it just might be you
+
Cause it's just me all alone here dyin'
+
Tryin' to find a way to get over you
+
I can't see any way out of this missin' you

Hell that I'm going through
+
If you're doin' fine with your bottle of wine

Riley Green - That's Just Me Video
(Show video at the top of the page)

Riley Green's 'That's Just Me' is the title track from his fourth studio album, out September 18, 2026.

Since the release of his emotional If I Don't Leave I'm Gonna Stay duet with none other than Carly Pearce, Green has been on a calculated run of single releases leading up to his fourth studio album, and while the duet actually featured on Carly Pearce's latest album, other recent singles, such as Imagine That and first track 'My Way' will be.

With the title track, Green has gifted us yet another song that explores the confusing lines between love and heartbreak, a theme he manages to explore extraordinarily.

As far as instrumentals are concerned, Green constantly manages to bring a sound to his tracks that carry wonderfully to the themes he tends to explore.

The song's introduction features soft and slow guitar picking, primarily plucking a deep E string and carrying its tune to the others - Green goes for a hard rest of all six before going into his first verse.

His voice as close and personal as ever, making listeners feel as though they are practically in the studio with him, Green caps off the first part of this verse before going into the second, with a steel guitar coming in to gently set the "picking up" tone.

With every nod at the song's title, beginning at "but maybe that's just me," a few notes of a piano softly play, and the light tapping of a drum and cymbal lean into the tune.

As the song continues to build up, a riff on an electric guitar feels like the last missing piece of a puzzle Green just found and fit perfectly. This riff begins at the start of the second verse, when he continues, "Do you ever go out..."

This array of instruments he adds one by one play on cue to the words he sings, carrying all the way into an electric guitar, introducing the bridge of the song. The sounds of this tune hit their peak before being put to rest, a clever callback to the song's introduction. They belt again before he carries us out with the acoustic guitar picking that we heard at the beginning of the song.

To unpack the first verse of 'That's Just Me,' Green uses his familiar surroundings of nature, country skies, and country culture to compare to the beauty he sees in the girl he is singing to. He describes the woman as being so gorgeous that he simply cannot shake it and caps this feeling he has off with a humble use of the song's hook, singing, "but, maybe that's just me."

Damn, I think you're gorgeous
Like them back home dogwoods in the spring
Hell, I can't avoid it
Baby, you're the only thing I need
Heaven's gotta be a full moon sky
With you on a back porch swing
But, maybe that's just me

He clues listeners into the current state of his relationship with the woman in the second verse and begins asking her questions he seems desperate to gain answers to; as he longs to know what she thinks and feels about having to move on from their loving past, he cleverly introduces a new meaning to the multi-level interpretation of the hook.

Do you ever go down memory lane
When you're tryna sleep?
Do you ever pour out a little too
Much whiskey in your drink?
Do you ever drive by my house
Thinkin' about how it used to be
Or is that just me?

With the song's chorus, Green reveals his truest emotions to the reality of the situation, as he pines after her and can only think about having her back in his life, he describes the earth-shattering feelings of having to live without the one he loves the most, feeling so deeply about it that he doesn't see a way he'll ever get out of it. And, along with all of this, we get a new meaning to the song's title: as he asks the woman to simply pick up the phone and give him a call, he tries to breed familiarity between the two of them, stating that it is just him, after all.

It's just me all alone here dyin'
Tryin' to find a way to get over you
I can't see any way out of this missin' you
Hell that I'm going through
If you're doin' fine with your bottle of wine
Then baby let that telephone ring
Cause it's just me

The third and final verse of the song is reminiscent on the pair's time shared with one another. As Green drives himself up a wall thinking about their good times together, he wishes for that period back so that he could just maybe redirect the relationship's outcome. Missing her this bad follows him even into his sleep, but when he wakes up, this time in the physical, it's just him.

Damn, I want you bad
And I keep replayin' every scene
Lord, if I could go back
I'd do all I could to change everything
And every night I dream of holdin' you tight
Then I wake up and see, that it's just me

The conclusion that he draws in the bridge showcases the essence of the woman's impact on him, stating that her, in all her beauty and in all the memories he shares with her, is the real reason why the hurt refuses to leave him.

Yeah, It's just me

This pain won't fade no matter what I do
I'm startin' to think that it just might be you
