Look, uh, uh
+
Blue diamonds how I shine, blue Benjis on my mind
+
The first part of the lyric is about Rod's motivation for money. The faces of U.S. presidents on each bill appear to blend in with the color of the bills, or green.

Rod then compares green faces to green dial watches, with an example being Rolex watches.
Green faces make me grind, green faces tell the time
+
Perhaps I was blind, what's a life without love?
+
Told me keep my heart at home, it got no use in the club
+
I was raised 'round thugs, how I'ma be a family man?
+
In this line, Rod is secretly referencing the violent atmosphere of his hometown near St. Petersburg, Florida. Through the mention of Afghanistan, Rod compares where he lived to a war zone.
Plus I'm from the trenches, bae, my city like Afghanistan
+
Traumatized by homicides, and hunted by demons
+
What's love? I don't believe it, 'cause I never seen it
+
In the club with double cups, the whole click leaning
+
Tryna really understand the logic and meaning
+
Of us standing 'round, dancing 'round, sweating and drinking
+
I get so deep in my thoughts, I'm overly thinking
+
First the clock strike two, strike three, strike four
+
Social battery dies, and I'm ready to go
+
But I hate being alone, I hate sleeping alone
+
So I don't shit on the party, I just go with the flow
+
He's referencing his girlfriend Nari aka Minibarbie.
To my right I spot a Barbie, with a smile worth gold
+
With a body like a goddess and the right skin tone
+
Told myself never again, but I'm 'bout to fold, mm
+
I'm 'bout to fold
+
Bae, you're young, live your life
+
You can club every night
+
Just as long as you come home and we make love every night
+
Just as long as you come home and beat the sun every night
+
But I got some advice, I think you should
+
The second half of this song is an interpolation of Ed Sheeran's Kiss Me hence why this track is titled "Kiss Me Interlude."
Settle down with me
+
I'll be your safety
+
If you'll be my lady
+
See, I was made to keep your body warm
+
But I'm cold as the wind blows
+
So hold me in your arms now
+
With your heart pressed to my chest
+
Your lips pressed to my neck
+
I'm falling for your eyes
+
They don't know me yet
+
And this feeling I forget
+
I'm in love now
+
I'm in love now
+
Kiss me like you wanna be loved
+
Like you wanna be loved, like you wanna be loved
+
This feels like falling in love
+
Falling in love, falling in love
+
Oh-oh-oh
+
Oh-oh
+
Oh-oh
+
Oh-oh
+
Kiss me like you wanna be loved
+
Like you wanna be loved, like you wanna be loved
+
Oh-oh-oh
+
Oh-oh
+
Oh-oh
+

Rod Wave - Kiss Me (Interlude) Video
(Show video at the top of the page)

Rod Wave knows ball. First, "Kiss Me Interlude" is a full on-production. It is cool seeing this much care put into an interlude. However, it hit a whole different level when we realized he was flipping Ed Sheeran's early 2010s gem Kiss Me. He recaptured the warm vibe of that track, but put his own nice spin on it. For those who enjoyed Sheeran's version, this will really hit home. The best part is he didn't turn it into a trunk rattling jam; he stayed true to the essence of the song, and it lands extremely well.
