That which I am, I am no longer
Pictures of me come in a blur
Things that I've heard become a slur
But some parts of me persist and linger
No matter where you point your finger
Things will be born there by the score
Things that you see will be no more
We're all specks of dust inside a storm
You dig your heels in to the end
You fight in wars to not lose friends
You're different though you're still the same
There are you's you'll never see again
You try your best to be in the moment
You blink and life has past you by
You wish that life was forever
And yet you know we're meant to die
How can it be that things are one way
Only to change to something else?
How can you truly be ourselves
If everyone's always ever-changing?
Steady and quiet the river flows
Telling no one of where it goes
What fate does it face when it's the ocean
And what does it drag onto the shore?
We dig our heels in to the end
We fight in wars to not lose friends
We're different though we're still the same
And some of us we won't see again
We try our best to live in the moment
We blink and life has past us by
We wish that life would last forever
And we are all afraid to die.
