Alexandria Jessen - Cove Lyrics

Alexandria Jessen - Cove Lyrics

Theres a crash of waves and theres the blackened sea
Theres a rush of water and it's pulling me
There's the wind and theres a hassle pulling back
Theres the sand beneath the water fading black

The rolling water drags us further out away from shore
The sail arises pulling wind to drag us further to the place we're looking for
The path to fortune lying there in the shining sea
There's an arrow in my mind pointing me to the east

Looming sandy shores all turning into gold
Walking on it twisting paths all turn the forest to the place we're the first to go
Looking future in the eyes i pack my bags
Setting sail for a new life, from the salty tide, to the starry sky well

Rolling waves are wasting away at the
Sides of the ship for days and days and theres a
Rumbling... ways a way i got the
Drop on the siren, other way

Shelter from rain and the howling wind
Theres a way to get out of a thing like this
I just have to think, breathing hard
I'd better learn to swim or make peace with god

There's a crash and everyone is sleeping still
There's a tide that's rising higher
There's a way back. There's a way back
It's too dark to swim. i wish it was an hour ago
It's fading black
Here's the way i still remember that
Tell Him i saved the best for last because
Here's the way i still remember that
Tell Him i saved the best for last because
Here's the way i still remember that
Tell God i saved the best for last because
I can find a hole a breathe through it
I can move the rocks and leave
Theres always a way
I can't just die now
That'd be stupid
I've got until I'm 100 years old
I'll be the oldest man that's ever lived and still live a better life than anyone else
I'll be in the news and tell them this story i'll tell them
I'll say one time i got trapped in a cove for days on end but i got out using only my wits
I'll build a new ship and sail right back to them and tell them to their f*cking face i survived
I survived and now you have to do what i say because i'm not putting up with your shit anymore
I survived
I survived

As his consciousness and hope slowly faded he thought about a lot of things
His instincts forced him to think about finding a way out that he swore he saw but never did
Trapped in a cave filled with rapidly rising water he thought about his parents
He thought about his brother and how he told him time and time again he didn't have to live this way
He wished he'd listened
He wished selfishly more than anything that he was at the old house with a wife and children
He wished to watch them grow up to be respectable people
Far better than their father
Far better than he could ever be
But wishes can only do so much
And as he sank to the rocky floor
He hoped they'd forgive him

Close by a young fisherman was on a small boat headed for the same cave
Hearing stories of the same treasure that doomed our friend
He pointed at the opening and said "this looks like the description"
"I told you we'd find it somewhere out here"
And as they ventured into the cove they saw him
Floating in aquamarine water that rose and fell like a wave pool
Above a wooden box that contained what the man thought would be his freedom
Now empty
Rotted by the water
And useless
Just like him
