Moonlight on the darkened stairs
Children play without a care
People stoking up the fires
And lights are everywhere
We can hear a silent night
Have some wine to make it right
All those happy shiny faces
Whose feelings are so bright
Now all the food is gone
We start to break out into song
Life could not be better
And our voices are so strong
The snow is on the ground
And nothing makes a sound
It's after midnight
So open up your eyes it's Christmas Day
Playing round the Christmas tree
Eye the presents underneath
Waiting for the hands to hold them
And say that you believe
Now we'd like to say a prayer
To live our lives without a care
Go on down our chosen path
And fix that seems unfair
Now everyone's asleep
The snow is bright and very deep
We gather round the fire
For all the warmth that we can keep
