Here we go again with political season
Good folks seem to lose all reason
Red vs. blue, blue vs. red
At the cost of the red, white, and blue
Priorities get all out of whack
Friendships forsaken for political hacks
Family reunions feature brother against brother
As if there were much difference from oneside to the other
The Washington fat cats earned less than oil field drillers
But managed to retire with four homes and millions of dollars
Something about that math just don't add up
Somebody smarter than me said power corrupts
I won't hold your vote against you a treason
I promise not to accuse
Fact is the only way I'll know your vote is if you tell me
And then all you'll get is a good-for-you
Who I voted for or if I did is just for me
And no, I really don't care what you believe
There's a reason we have secret ballots
And it's not so you can shout about it
Do you really think they give a crap
About you or me or some other sap
They couldn't care less about my chickens or your eggs
They're on free vacation sippin' wine, not tappin' Kegs
Their pockets are lined with lobbyist dollars
While ours are empty to fund empty promises
We need to stop voting for all those smooth-talkers
And vote in folks like us who'll step aside without walkers
