Okay it's been a few years, I'm still feeling the pain
When you love someone a lot, you don't wanna see 'em walk away
You don't wanna blink your eyes, they'll be gone again
Then you're mourning every morning, the life of a friend
You wanna close your eyes, and just pretend
Everything was the way, back when you were kids
I remember Wednesdays, we were on the swing set
Nights after church, life was the best
We been through a lot, we grew up together
Time in every season, like we took the weather
And your dad taught me a lot, he's still teaching me
I still call him all the time, and he prays for me
God knows I need it, 'cause this life is hard
And life can be short, so live for God
I remember hard times when I lost my grandpa
Life was up and down like I rode a seesaw
I know we saw it coming, and we prayed a lot at church
But cancer causes pain, and inflicted heavy hurt
Devastated, I remember right now
If we've ever needed you, Lord it's now
There's a lot of people hurting, God bring them peace
There's a lot of people hurting, make the grieving cease
I know that there will be a day, when you wipe away tears
Sarah and Poppy, have been there for some years.
Isn't it a pleasure and an honor to know somebody
That tried to live up to what they said they believed
And then when you get to meet somebody that actually walks the walk they talk about
That's a blessing, and you don't have to walk it like anybody else

I know they're feeling pain and it never goes away
But bring them peace and reassurance today
