Danzig Info:

Danzig is an American heavy metal band, formed in 1987 in Lodi, New Jersey. The band is the musical outlet for singer/songwriter Glenn Danzig, preceded by the horror punk bands the Misfits and Samhain.

On July 14, 1986, Samhain performed at The Ritz in New York in what was to be their final show. In attendance was Rick Rubin, who was scouting for potential bands to sign to his record label, Def American. Rubin at first wished only to sign Danzig, with the intent of making him the vocalist for a hard rock supergroup that Rubin envisioned.

However, Danzig refused to sign to Rubin's label without Samhain's bassist Eerie Von. In 1987, he added John Christ on guitar and Chuck Biscuits (ex-Black Flag) on drums. To reflect the change in musical direction and avoid having to start anew after future lineup changes, Glenn, on Rubin's advice, changed the name of Samhain to his surname, Danzig. -Wikipedia

Danzig Quotes:
Ah, I don't know that I won one for Satan. I'm not out to win anything for Satan. Satan wins things on his own. If there even is a Satan. See, I don't even believe in Christianity. [And] the only thing I dig about Satan is he tells people to go @#$%& off and fights for individual freedom. That's the thing I hate about Christianity is that it tries to enslave people, which is what all organized religions try to do.
Glenn Danzig

It's just going to be the most dark, extreme bands that have either been ostracized or prejudiced against by certain media, labels and you know, MTV-style stations and radio stations that only accept payola and stuff like that. Very crazy, extreme, rebellious bands with their middle fingers in the air toward the establishment in the music industry.
Glenn Danzig

I wouldn't even suggest how I have. I let other people do that. I wouldn't say "oh, I've done this," you know? Pretty much what I have done in my career is there for everybody to look at. So, I'll let everybody else decide what I've done and whether I've influenced lots of artists and you know, music in general, whatever. You know what I mean?
Glenn Danzig

Everyone's a music critic and everyone has an opinion. some of my biggest selling records were slammed by the critics. So, if you go by critics, then it's not a success. But, if you go by what the people like, then usually...you know what I mean? First, you go by me. I go by what I like to do and then if the record's a success once I'm done recording it, then it's a success whether it sells or it doesn't, it doesn't matter. Then, if it is a critical success, that doesn't always necessarily mean that you're gonna sell a lot of records. It's the people (that decide) See, because record critics don't buy records, they get 'em for free.
