Dark Forest - Oak, Ash & Thorn Lyrics

No one shall crown the May Queen
Now the seasons are gone
No voices fill the meadow
Forgotten are the songs
Well no fires shall light the hillside
They have smothered the last
But with this sheaf of gleanings
We will restore the past

This night we were a-maying
With our good women-folk
And now we come adorned
With the leaves of the oak
We dance around the fire
Raise the tar barrels high
On this evening of Midsummer
Put the spirits to flight

Libations for the strangers
Lest our harvest should fail
And leave the last fruit hanging
They've already been claimed
Here in the heart of winter
While the boughs deck the halls
We shall keep the fire a-burning
Ere the Sun is reborn

With Oak and Ash and Thorn
Old England to adorn
Within this Isle of Gramarye
What once was bound is now set free

I can feel them all
Those who came before
I can feel their ways
Coming home again

Upon the hill where fallen kings now lie
I look across the land where I shall die
So great a loss, can we still be redeemed
When we have failed to sow our father's seeds

I kiss the earth beneath the burning sky
With broken heart I hear ancestors cry
For hill and wood, for oak and ash and thorn
For ways of life now gone forever more

My sword is Truth and Love shall be my shield
Modernity shall feel the blade I wield
One two, one two and through and through, I slay
And all shall fall before the old ways

And thus anon, a Deity shall rise
The beating heart of Albion, revived
Rejoice, rejoice the end of the machine
Hereafter for to dwell in evergreen

With Oak and Ash and Thorn
Old England to adorn
Within this Isle of Gramarye
What once was bound is now set free
By Oak and Ash and Thorn
Old England is reborn
Within this Isle of Gramarye
Your children have returned to thee
