Darrell Edward Evans - Dr Chadwick Lyrics

Darrell Edward Evans - Dr Chadwick Lyrics

Once upon a time there was a
Man who brought himself great fame
One day he walked into the village
Dr Chadwick was his name
Di-di-di... Di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di

People came to town to hear Him
People came from miles around
They heard He had the gift of music
Heard He had a special sound

The town reporter said Professor
Can you tell our readers why
The others simply play their music
But You must try and make it fly

Then Dr Chadwick told the writer
The world thinks one and one is two
But I have learned within our hearts
We often play by different rules

The others let their sheets of paper
Sprinkled with the notes they write
Bind their hands and thoughts so tightly
They cannot bring their songs to life

Me, I simply hear the music
Note by note I hear the sound
I let it flow right through My fingers
And slowly then it fills the town

Then the Good Professor turned and
Saw the people standing there
He knelt to earth and bowed His head
And then He said this humble prayer

Father, hear My words I beg Thee
Send the angels from above
To fill My heart with inspiration
Fill the air with peace and love

The people here have travelled far
To hear Thy word and give them hope
But we both know without Thy blessing
I cannot play a single note

Let Thy music fill the heavens
Let My fingers move with ease
Fill the air with richest blessings
Fill the air with love and peace

Then Dr Chadwick took the harp
And placed the cradle to His breast
With fingers poised to send a message
He vowed to do His very best

Then from the harp there came the sound of
Sacrifice and boundless love
It filtered upward through the trees and
Danced upon the roofs above

Then His hands fell from the strings
As tears began to fill their eyes
They saw the prints upon His hands
And they began to realize

Their hearts were filled with more than music
When He came to town that day
He taught them how to love each other
He showed them all a better way

Then all the people knelt to earth and
Closed their eyes and bowed their heads
They prayed that they might be forgiven
And listened to the words He said

Then He told the people there to
Tell the others what you've heard
Share My song with every nation
Every note and every word

Pray for them unto the Father
Pray for guidance from above
Teach them just as I have taught you
Teach them sacrifice and love

Learn the music that I gave you
Every measure every part
Teach with kindness and compassion
Feel the spirit in your hearts

Keep your harps in tune my brothers
Sisters make your voices sweet
Share My word with every creature
Every person that you meet

Then Dr Chadwick walked away but
All the people round him knew
That He'd be back again some day
And maybe then He'd play for you
