Can't believe what I read
Pick at things, follow threads
Sitting there, all day long
Going nowhere, singing songs
With a PhD maybe I'd see
Or with voodoo or astrology
Ask the heavens but don't ask me, I just... run
Man overboard, throw a line
A lifebuoy or a bottle of wine
From the deck they hurl advice
Who cares if it's wrong or right
And who cares if it's all lies
Fools talk more than the wise
In the meantime I forget my lines, and just... run
So pitch a cliché, coin a phrase
Maybe flawed, maybe amazed
Carve your name in the heart of a tree, and then... run
And every fable has its end
Moral delivered, message sent
Running, down, through the years
Like music on deaf ears
