In the light of the sun, he walked the common way,
Just like many others, living day by day.
Yet he bore a sword, cutting sins away,
Under light of the sun, where his path lay.
Victory, oh victory, through Christ he'll win,
Carrying the cross of the redeemed.
Fighting the fight, enduring the run,
Until he hears "now take thy crown."
Never seeking fame, gold, glory, or gain
With a conscience clear, lived the nameless saint.
He carried his cross, as the Master said;
Filing his desires with the Living Bread.
Victory, oh victory, through Christ he'll win,
Carrying the cross of the redeemed.
Fighting the fight, enduring the run,
Until he hears "now take thy crown."
Through struggles of life, and trials he faced,
The cross his companion, in every place.
The night fell, his sword was sheathed,
And soon the saint was glory-wreathed.
Victory, oh victory, through Christ he won,
Carrying his cross till the day was done.
Fought the fight, endured the run,
Now he hears "now take thy crown."
