It started long ago
A year and 3 months old
It was the time that I got diagnosed
Developed ASD
Added with ADHD
A start to a unique beginning

I always had somebody older to watch over me
Constantly cared for while I stayed indoors
But just to be true
When I see the view
I want something new

I wonder when I'll be looked on as ready
What will happen if I take a leap
I wonder if I step out
I wonder what life would be like
I wonder if I can do it all
On my OWN

"Could you just stop cryin'?"
"Everyone else has this"
"The problem is you're way too sensitive"
"You don't even listen"
"You don't even focus"
"How can you prove the world you're not dense"

It's like everywhere you go you're judged for not being normal
But that seems real hard cuz you're not like these neurotypicals
They'll dismiss as an excuse
While you're done with the abuse that's been given to you

So whatcha gonna do
When the world tells you
Be like everybody
Join the party
Is this getting old
To do what you're told
You can be your OWN

Your individuality's
What makes you unique
That's the part of you
Want others to view
Integrity's, what you strive to keep
That's the part of you
You've got to stay true

So you know
For your soul
If you're ever feelin' low
Pushed, held back, or left alone
Just because you're disabled
Drop the phrase of let it go
Let your struggles help you grow
All the things that make you whole
As an individual

Play your role
It's your show
Speak into that microphone
Go your flow
