D.T.C - Dear God Lyrics
Official

If you have a story, then you should share it
You never know who it's going to resonate with
Especially if God's behind it
This is my story
Dear God, I just wanted to talk to you
Bout some of the situations that I have been going through
Cause some times I look at life and I'm wondering what I do
To be placed inside of a world that is so royally screwed
Growing up with no money, getting bullied at school
Had me wondering why I wasn't good enough to be cool
It seemed everybody had something I couldn't get
All the bad things I remember I wish I could just forget
Growing up with no father, feeling like I wasn't loved
So I started selling drugs and hanging out with them thugs
Doing things that I knew that I shouldn't have ever done
But I'm thankful that I never pulled the trigger on that gun
I was, still type young, thinking I was invincible
Turning into a criminal, giving love that was conditional
Nobody knew my real name, I made myself invisible
Sadly, I considered myself unforgivable
Those kind of feelings will give you distorted visuals
Have you feeling all miserable thinking the hurt's perpetual
Have you lashing out at the people that's tryna protect you
And instead embracing those that really don't give a *** 'bout you
That's the way the devil will work his magic
So that when God tries to speak to you all you hearing is static
Pushing back it, saying you want no part of it
And that's unfortunately the reason problems exist
I used to be covered in sin
I knew that I couldn't win
So I turned my sights to the bible
Holy Spirit just come on in
I know that I'm not worthy
Redeemed because of Your grace and Your mercy
So until I get called up into eternity
I'ma continue to spread your word 'til I'm deceased
Dear God it's been ten years since the last time we spoke
I remember turning away and disappearing like smoke
The further I got from you, the harder it got from me until I was drowning myself
With sex, liquor and weed
Started worshipping idols and denying the bible
Demon had me believing all the lies that he was breathing
Though my spirit was screaming
I was cheating and scheming
Appealing to the sins of my flesh I must confess
And yet you Lord, still considered me worthy
In the midst of my wretchedness You showed me grace and Your mercy
Pulled me out of the swamp that was dirty and murky
Cleaned me and redeemed me for my spiritual journey
Clarifying religion and what it means to be Christian
Changing my ambition to follow the Great Commission
Now I want to share my story with all non-believers and tell them the story of Jesus
Free them from the deceiver
There'll be no hesitation in making the declaration
The only way to salvation's redemption through Christ
Not this fake story of misguided advice that in order to get to heaven you just have to be nice
I'm here to tell you that that's all a lie and it won't save your soul on the day that you die
So repent, turn away from your sins my friend
For we'll all be judged in the end
Amen
I used to be covered in sin
I knew that I couldn't win
So I turned my sights to the bible
Holy Spirit just come on in
I know that I'm not worthy
Redeemed because of Your grace and Your mercy
So until I get called up into eternity
I'ma continue to spread your word 'til I'm deceased
