ducksmithson - The Road Lyrics

Pick me up at any time that might work best for you
I'm only going if you're going too
It sucks the most because it's self-imposed
Who will I be when I am finally out on the road?
I tell my friends I'm getting better, but it's so barebones
Cause I can't hardly do half of the hard thing on my own
And on the good days I'm paraded and they show me off
I play the longest game of chicken cause I still can't cross the road
Flash-forward fiction I get what I want
Driving in the pitch black pushing 80 with my brights on
With nobody to ease my indecision or to tell me off
I make predictable mistakes, which might be half the fun
Flying down the highway I know just the song
To make me feel like dying in the driver's seat is just a thought
And I have everything I couldn't picture I could even want
Maybe someone even asks me for a ride for once
But like all great works of fiction, it comes to an end
If I don't work toward the daydream, it just stays pretend
And I'm not sure where I'm headed, not a clue of how I'll go
But I keep my hands at 10 and 2
I do everything I'm supposed to do
I keep my eye on the road
I won't lose sight of the road
I'll spend my life on this road
I'll live and I'll die
I'll live and I'll die
I won't lose sight of the road
