Running out the back door
She's changed her mind
Resentment grew
At a pace unrecognized
She spent three long years
Wasting her time
In a matter of seconds
She put him behind
She had held her breath
And held her tongue
Kept it inside
But she can't take it anymore
All of his antics
The smoke in his lungs
Beads of fire
As the final tune is sung
Do you remember the simpler days?
When we would laugh together
I can recall a couple times there with you
Where did we go wrong?
How'd we end up in this tether
I guess only the strong survive
Woke up one morning
With a thorn in his side
Done as he was told
But was struggling to provide
Waking up each day
To his teary eyed bride
Feeling less than worthy
And downright undignified
The fruits of his labor
Well, he had none
No goals achieved
Nor battles won
Their relations were rocky
Life together had just begun
Went out one night
And the deed was done
Do you remember the simpler days?
When we would laugh together
I can recall a couple times there with you
Where did we go wrong?
How'd we end up in this tether
I guess only the strong survive
