Evan - Identity Lyrics

Evan - Identity Lyrics

Well, hello there. My name is Evan
My current age equals ten plus seven
But in a month, this will not be
And this song will be on my new EP
Now, I'm gonna tell you a lil' 'bout me
I got interested in Architecture at age 3
Minus one. And this wordplay's stoppin' ya'
It's the very math that made 1st grade popular
November 13, 1997
The beginning of my holiday away from Heaven
I'm a tall guy with dark brown hair and large eyes
Since I was little, though, I was sort of the small fry
Because I am the youngest. How did I get so wise
I'd say that my soul's probably older than Apartheid
I love the 80s. Lot of 90s babies never listen
But who has time for it when everybody's grades are shifting
But that's a whole 'nother story
And I don't want this song to be gory
Outside of the dated school system
I indeed gotta mention I'm a Christian

I remember when I used the internet
For finding all the things I get
And researching the Titanic, till there was nothing left. And then
I moved on to other things
Music, class, to blue class rings
And on this day, I turn 18
I'll tell you a bit about me
Here we go

I am an artist
I love designing things and how they progress
And I'm a musician
Mixing sounds that smell like that good old teen spirit
I also like to write, and take pictures with my friends and all; you see
And that's what I call my identity

If you know me, then you know best
I'm seen as the smart guy; you would've guessed (you would've guessed)
A simple mind fond of taking more complicated ways (I like it complicated, baby. Yuh!)
And by perfection
My mind's tied down and sectioned
I want it right
It's ideal for any architect; straight drafting all day
But I recall one day, a year ago
When the world told me, "No, no, no"
I learned I can't be perfect
Gave me some humility (People learn from their mistakes every day)
My family told me to stay humble
Even good guys sometimes stumble
So I don't roast, and I don't boast
I share my smile, though
It feels like me

I am an artist
I love designing things and how they progress
And I'm a musician
Mixing sounds that smell like that good old teen spirit
I also like to write, and take pictures with my friends and all; you see
And that's what I call my identity

All my music tastes
(FTP, Tame Impala)
(I tell ya', they're everywhere!)
All over the place
(It's about to go IIIIIN!)
I like to sing, I like to rap (Told ya')
So don't say I'm like this person or any of that (Don't say it, yuh!)
Not Michael Jackson, or James Bay
I like to be a new person every day
I can tell the world not to, as I may
Although I know their opinions will be made (I know...)
(You'll put me...)
Put me next to a genre, put me next to an artist
I'll just just keep changing on ya'. Rearranging what my art is
So you can call me the next Drake
Call me the next Beck
Call me just another "What the heck!"
I already told you what I think of myself
I can be a black fighter, but I don't need a black belt

I am an artist
I love designing things and how they progress
And I'm a musician
Mixing sounds that smell like that good old teen spirit
I also like to write, and take pictures with my friends and all; you see
And that's what I call my identity
