I used to chase time
With so much to waste away
Now with wrinkles on my face
As the memories fade into the night
I can't recall the things I cherished at times
Silver strand shedding everywhere
Preferring a gentle walk around the park
Over a hearty stride
Feeling the sunshine after the rain
Being able to cherish more of what life has to offer
Laugh lines around my eyes
But still feeling young inside
They call it growing pains
But it's okay
I'm able to love and care for more
To seize the day
For the things I used to let slip away
Young hearts never fade
Dancing with delight seeing old friends
Through the years we still shine
Our stories intertwine
Acquired wisdom in my heart
I won't let it depart
Songs of years gone by
Like a gentle whisper in my mind
Learning what it means to love
Giving kindness everywhere
I can
They call it growing pains
But it's okay
I'm able to love and care for more
To seize the day
For the things I used to let slip away
