First I pined for the Mayor's wife
Then woke up in church
As plastic pews held me tight
Next to everything, it hurt
But for all I know they were just outside
Relearning how to pray
By the time I made it back outside
It was a brand new day
All the people that I've invented
All walk in different ways
When I saw her down at Alley Way
I couldn't think up a single thing to say
She looked like a totem pole
Carved out of bone
I think I thought she was a celebrity
Or else made of foam
Someday soon I will turn my life around and
I'll walk a brand new way
This is the year I finally stay away
Both night and day
We'll see
