Greg Brooks - Bicycles of Tine Lyrics

Greg Brooks - Bicycles of Tine Lyrics

When I was just a boy I used to go next door and do homework with my friend Billy
His father was very strict and we had to watch our P's and Q's
One day Billy showed me a toy he'd found at the yard sale next door
When you wound it up these characters would spin around on top
There were people dancing riding bicycles and christmas trees

We were playing with that toy laughing and his father came in and said
If we didn't do our homework why we'd end up out on the street
Cold and hungry and nobody would love us
Whoa seemed a little harsh (lighten up dude you're gonna have a heart attack)
Never did see that toy again

About 15 years have slipped by and Billy called said he's going to come and visit
But first he's gotta go up to the old folks home and see the old man
What's he doing up there? I asked he's only like 55 or something right?
Yea billy said he was working too hard worrying too much had a stroke
He's not doing so good
I said I'd go with him

When we got to the room the first thing I saw was that little tin toy sitting on his nightstand
Nurse said it was his favorite thing and don't try and take it away from him
He didn't recognize us that day but as I we left I noticed
The sun seemed a little brighter
The air seemed a little sweeter
And I remembered how much I loved you all over again

Today seemed
Especially fine
For no apparent reason

We took a ride around the park
On bicycles made of tin
Then we went around again
I think I thought I heard you say

Let's take the long way round
A few more miles of your eyes
Would be just fine with me

Let's take the wrong way home
Getting lost and finding you
I bet I do

And if we're lucky
The stars may shine in our eyes
And if we're true we may find it in our hearts
The kind of love and the strength that we'll need to survive
These crazy little lives of ours
These crazy little lives
Of ours

Seems like only yesterday i was swimming on the swim team
And doing high school tests
Sure I've had my dreams and accomplished quite a few
But I took that road less traveled
And that's where I met you
I wouldn't change a thing

And if we're lucky
The stars may shine in our eyes
And if we're true we may find it in our hearts
The kind of love and the strength that we'll need to survive
These crazy little lives of ours
These crazy little lives
Of ours

Well another five years has gone by
Billy called and said he was coming to visit but first he's gotta go up to the old folks home
And get the old man he's getting out today
Yea he got better still can't walk so good but he recognizes everyone and he's ready to come home
I said I'd go with him

As we're getting him in the car he put his hand on the door and looked up at us with watery eyes and said
Boys would you mind if we

Take the long way round
A few more miles of the sky
Would be just fine with me

I dont care if we

Take the wrong way home
Getting lost and finding you
I bet I do

And if we're lucky
The stars may shine in our eyes
And if we're true we may find it in our hearts
The kind of love and the strength that we'll need to survive
These crazy little lives of ours
These crazy little lives
Of ours

Today seemed
Especially fine

We took a ride around the park
On bicycles made of tin
Then we went around again
Then we went around again
Then we went around again
