I check the mailbox to see if my stimulation funds have arrived
Yet again another disappointed trip
I thought this was only supposed to last a few weeks
But a few weeks has turned into months
And now I have to wear a mask everywhere that I go
Is it my year or their year
Is it my pain or their gain
At this point I can't tell whose winning
But what I do know is that comfort zones no longer exist
Schools shut down in March
Now parents are forced to teach
Churches shut down in April
Now Parents are forced to preach
Business shut down somewhere in the middle
Now I have to stand in line for an hour just to get eggs, milk, bleach
Hey miss, can you help me find the hand sanitizer? Oh y'all been sold out for weeks
Well...thanks anyway Ms Essential Worker. Maybe I should pray for her when I leave she looks irritated
Im blessed and cursed to be considered ESSENTIAL
In a society that any other time would consider me wasted potential
The stats about my city are staggeringly skewed at least based on the news
I guess if all else fails, paint a bad picture of the inner city so at least the majority
Can be happy they don't live there
But Mr Fortunate to have 6months expenses saved up - THOSE ARE PEOPLE TOO
We make just enough on our 9-5 to survive from 5-9
Maybe this QUARANTINE is a sign
That we should not take for granted the blessings we have
In a minute our jobs could be considered unless
That if we don't plan for a future, there won't be a future
That if we don't take time with our family - we could miss out on moments
That if we don't seek God, then next time that storm could hit our home...our mom...our job...our health
What's MOST ESSENTIAL seems like a relationship w/ God
