Joe Billy - Denounce Columbus Lyrics

So let me get this straight, if i can if i may
Columbus stole this land, and he was the one to stay?
Now tell me what the f*ck is right with that

And the history books won't tell us, of how he raped and pillaged
And tried to racial cleanse, all the Native Americans
And how he killed off half the tribes by enslavement
And as they were dying off, they decided to replace them with the Africans

So please tell me why, we celebrate this man
And so many others like him, just because we can
Could we honor and learn from all the ones that made a difference
And perhaps weren't so tyrannical
I think we need a better holiday

Well we still gotta thank Chris for plenty
Like disturbing a world of peace, and bringing in disease
And taking new world credit from Leif Ericson

And when the kings and queens found out
Of his heinous crimes against humanity
They arrested him, and tried to punish him
But found out that he gained too much gold

So please tell me why, we celebrate this man
And so many others like him, just because we can
Could we honor and learn from all the ones that made a difference
And perhaps weren't so tyrannical

As privileged as i am, being white like a saltine cracker
I can't help from feeling some kind of guilt
For my native american friends, and so many cultures like them
For enduring a life of pain and resentment

So please tell me why, we celebrate this man
And so many others like him, just because we can
Could we honor and learn from all the ones that made a difference
And perhaps weren't so tyrannical
I think we need a better holiday
