I was held a prisoner on an island in the ancient sea
I had told men about Christ
And now they were punishing me
I heard a thunderous voice behind me
Saying, John, tell what you see
Both the things that are current
And the things that in future will be

Then Jesus stood before me
Eyes blazing fire and bright
His hair a pure white gold
Gold banded robe
Were an awesome sight
When He spoke to me
From His mouth came a two-edged sword
I fell down before him
Crying, please help me, Lord

He put his hand upon me
Saying, John, don't be afraid
I am the first and the last
The price for you have paid
We stood among seven lamp-stands
Seven stars were in His hand
These were symbols for the churches
And the angels coming to land

As the Spirit took control of me
Oh, I heard my Lord say
Some churches are against me
And all that they will pay
My judgment is upon them
Unless they now repent
For they have let the first love
Burn warm through God's hand

But to those that overcome
I promise great reward
And what I say I'll do
Because I am the greatest Lord
So take heart, those that love me
Through the trials that you have faced
You shall not die a second death
You are safe and aggrieved

But hold to those who oppose me
For my anger is great
The promise of self-sufficiency
Are things that I hate
False teaching and fidelity
Will be judged on it all today
So turn from your evil ways
And hear these words I say

Now listen as I stand
Before the door into your heart tonight
Oh, can I please change this iron rod?
If anyone hears my voice
And lets me in
Oh, he will sup with me
And I will sup with him

To those who win the victory
Oh, I will give the right
To sit beside me on my throne
For in my Father's right
And if you have ears
Then listen to what the Spirit says
About the churches and the angels
Because he really cares for you
