What if Jesus never came?
What if in our sins we did remain?
Buried beneath the weight of our shame
Darkness our home, ourselves alone
To bear the blame
What if Jesus never came
And walked the earth?
And if there were no hope for new birth?
No shouts of joy, no songs of mirth
Sorrow our home, all alone
To the end of our days
What if Jesus never left His throne above
And came to save our souls?
Where would we be?
Lost in this world, so empty and cold
All on our own, forever alone
What if Jesus never came?
What if Jesus never came?
What if Jesus never came?
But God, in the fulness of time
Sent forth His Son, His only Son
And He, He would lay aside
Lay down His rights
And even His life
And God, the God who came
Is ever the same
Forever will reign
And still, He comes to me
He comes to You
And freely
He gives His life in exchange
For all of our shame
Our sin and our pain
And now He calls us His own
His very own
Forever His own
