Jerry turned 18 in 1969, he had plans to go to college, but he could not make up his mind
Should he go to Harvard or should he go to Yale?
Our Government decided for him one day, when he checked the mail
Jerry went looking for Charlie in a land that he didn't know, he had never seen his face Before, they told him that, he would know
He was running through the jungle with his gun in his hands, he turned just long enough, to lose His best friend
Off he was sent, just to fight their war, each time that he went, he wasn't sure, if he'd see home Anymore,He wasn't old enough to vote for the one's who sent him there They ruined his Life, and Did not care, No they did not care
Uncle Jerry came home in 1971,but he left his arm in a land called Vietnam
And the Country that he came home to, it was not the one he had left, people spit on him, and Whispered amongst themselves
It's been over 50 years, since He came home, still he doesn't go a day without remembering, the Ones that are gone Some lost their lives their and some were left behind, and the ones that Lived, Are still at war in their minds, yeah they are still at war in their minds,
Sent to fight a people that they never knew, So to all of the heroes that went to Vietnam let us Stand and say , Thank you, Now There's a generation of American Soldiers that this Country has Forgotten about,
But they still hang the red white and blue on a pole, in front of their house
