• The album Jesus Is King focuses on the Christian concept of salvation with the entire album being clean of explicit lyrics, including verses from guest features. West spoke at the listening party in New York on September 29, 2019, stating "This album has been made to be an expression of the gospel and to share the gospel and the truth of what Jesus has done to me. When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all that he does for me, my soul cries out."

• "Follow God" debuted at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100 upon the release of "Jesus Is King" as the Hot Shot Debut of the week, standing behind American singer Selena Gomez's single "Lose You to Love Me" at number one as the second highest entry in the top ten and following on from YNW Melly's track "Mixed Personalities" as the second song including West to chart on the Hot 100 in 2019. This stood as West's 18th track to reach the top ten of the chart, though marked his eighth debut in the top ten, and his first since the Lil Pump collaboration "I Love It" reached number six in 2018. West's 18th top ten tied him with Ludacris for the fifth-most among rappers. The song entered at number two on the US Streaming Songs chart with 34 million streams and debuted at number 13 on the US Digital Song Sales chart, selling 8,000 digital copies.
