My land lives in fairly new times
And in peace among its friends here deep in Europe's heart
My land joined the wise and smart ways
By which humanity will free from all its hurt
My land shows me all its beauty
In the fields and in the forests of its greatest pride
My land sired boldest novelty
And often shared rich progress with the world so wide
My land brought far too much sadness
But found ways back after hardest agony
My land crushed its stony fortress
And so finally saw happy unity
Yes, my land stands for law and wisdom:
Let us strive for this, so brotherly, with heart and hand
My land is the land of freedom
And so will always be our German, our united fatherland
