You'd look at me
I'd take the reins and we'd saddle up ready to ride these plains
Behind the big white gates
And your mum would come round and shed say get off the grass
I've just put the fertiliser down, and we'd gallop out onto the avenue
We came from two different worlds
She was a princess and I was a cowboy
But it didn't matter to us cos we were the same
Especially when we rode our fake horses
Wed head up the road to where the kids had a pool
We didn't have to talk we just knew, then we'd silently dismount
You'd look at me and I'd fetch a stick
And we'd poke a hole in the fence with it and we'd giggle out loud,
We came from two different worlds
She was a princess and I was a cowboy
But it didn't matter to us cos we were the same
Especially when we rode our fake horses
Id wake in the morning and id hear the doves cry, and remember asking my mum why
She said birds only sing on the Avenues.
We'd rush down the stairs bacon sandwich in hand
And look outside to check we could do what's planned
And then we'd rush outside and saddle up
We came from two different worlds
She was a princess and I was a cowboy
But it didn't matter to us cos we were the same
Especially when we rode our fake horses
