Lionheart Revival - Belshazzar s Feast Lyrics

Lionheart Revival - Belshazzar s Feast Lyrics

In Babylon's halls where Belshazzar reigned
A feast was prepared no expense was restrained
The king and his lords in their pride and might
Drank from sacred vessels on that fateful night

Pour the wine! Let it flow!
To Babylon's glory let praises grow!
Gods of gold silver and stone
Protect our city our mighty throne!

I am the king the son of great Nebuchadnezzar
No power on earth can be my oppressor
These golden cups from Jerusalem's fall
Now serve my pleasure in this grand hall!

But as they reveled in drunken delight
A hand appeared bringing terror and fright
On the plaster wall it wrote with flame
Words unknown of judgment and shame

My bones are weak my spirit shakes
What sorcery is this what power awakes?
Bring the wise men let them read
This ghostly message with all speed!

We see the words but cannot read
Their meaning eludes us we must concede
O king this mystery is too deep
Its secrets from our wisdom keep

There is a man in your kingdom found
In whom the spirit of holy gods abound
Daniel the Hebrew wise and true
Can solve this riddle revealed to you

O king your father learned humility
When pride consumed him he lost his dignity
But you O Belshazzar have not humbled your heart
You've challenged the Lord and played a fool's part

Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin!
The writing of God judgment begins!
Numbered weighed and divided
Babylon's fate is now decided!

Mene: God has numbered your kingdom's days
Tekel: You are weighed and found wanting in His ways
Peres: Your kingdom is divided given to Medes and Persians
This very night your rule will lessen

That very night as the prophet foretold
Belshazzar was slain his kingdom sold
Darius the Mede took the Babylonian throne
The empire fell its pride overthrown

Let every nation and every king
Heed this lesson of which we sing:
Pride goes before destruction's hour
God alone holds eternal power!
The kingdoms of men will rise and fall
But the Kingdom of God outlasts them all
From Babylon's ruin let wisdom rise:
Humble yourselves before God's eyes!

In halls once grand now silent and bare
Echoes the truth beyond compare:
The hand that writes the God who reigns
His justice eternal His word remains

In halls once grand now silent and bare
Echoes the truth beyond compare:
The hand that writes the God who reigns
His justice eternal His word remains"
