You're up front about your darkness
Unashamed, unapologetic
And then kindness overflows you
You're all laughter and all smiles
And where fear's abundant in others
Somehow there's clarity in you
And the void that we're all trying to fill
I think that's where you let your darkness live
Why would I escape one part of me
And nourish all the rest?
Why is sadness and anger
Always deemed a second best
I've been told by people searching
They have found peace in letting go
Of perfection and the strive to reach
All the ideals they've learned to hold
And maybe is that the solution
But my mind's struggling to give in
I need some proof before I'll launch myself
Into the void where darkness lives
Why would I escape one part of me
And nourish all the rest?
Why is sadness and anger
Always deemed a second best
