Mumford & Sons - Believe Lyrics

Mumford & Sons Lyrics

Believe Lyrics
Jump to:
You may call it in this evening
But you've only lost the night
Present all your pretty feelings
May they comfort you tonight
And I'm climbing over something
And I'm running through these walls

I don't even know if I believe [x3]
Everything you're trying to say to me

I had the strangest feeling
Your world's not all it seems
So tired of misconceiving
What else this could've been

I don't even know if I believe [x3]
Everything you're trying to say to me

Open up my eyes
Tell me how to lie
This is never gonna go our way
If I'm gonna have to guess what's on your mind

Say something, say something,
something like you love me
Does she wanna move away
From the noise of this place

I don't even know if I believe [x2]
I don't even know if I (wanna) believe
Anything you're trying to say to me

(Open up my eyes
Tell me how to lie
This is never gonna go our way
If I'm gonna have to guess what's on your mind) [x2]

Believe Info:

• The song marks a significant departure in the sound of the band, substituting their acoustic instrumentation for electric. Marcus Mumford said:
"Towards the end of the Babel tour, we'd always play new songs during soundchecks, and none of them featured the banjo, or a kick-drum," said Marcus Mumford. We didn't say: 'No acoustic instruments.' But I think all of us had this desire to shake it up."

"The songwriting hasn't changed drastically; it was led more by a desire to not do the same thing again. Plus, we fell back in love with drums! It's as simple as that."

• Speaking about the Wilder Mind album: "We're drawing off of four people's experiences over probably a year-long period, you know? So there was plenty of content and stuff to write songs about. Everyone was writing what we thought were great lyrics."

"We've always said that it's a competition between songs rather than writers, so it's like, whoever writes it, if it's a good song, it's in, And so the boys kept coming up with a bunch of amazing lyrics that I found really fun to sing, and that was quite a liberating experience too, really enjoying, relishing singing someone else's lyrics."
