I travelled the sands
In my hands the remains of the can
Rotten mush and mold inside
Classified
Endless voids of dust and film
Lying dormant dead and still
Unknown items beckon to me
To be freed

Relics of the past forlorn
Hollow vessels, without a core
Artefacts of a past society
Riddled with grime and debris
Present among me
Gathered in the dust-ridden room
To wither away
Sealed within their tomb

Purged with fire yet back to life
We yearned for their return and now they live for our strife
Beyond the inferno lies mysteries allure
Condemned once more
To history's dispair
