It was my junior year of high school when it first hit me
I wanted to travel from town to town, city to city
But the problem was I hadn't even rocked my first show
Hadn't even filmed my first video
I started my career just by rapping with my peers
Freestyling at parties drinking beer
I told a few people this dream that I had
But those few people were just my mom and my dad
Because everyone else seemed to put me on the shelf
Supposedly I was too young to B given help
I told my classmates and even a few teachers
One day soon I'd B coming thru their speakers
They said it's possible but it's gonna take long
But I believe in my dreams so I'mma Hold On
Hold on to whatever you find baby (So I'mma Hold On)
Hold on to whatever will get you through (so I'mma Hold On)
Hold on to whatever you find baby (So I'mma Hold On)
I don't trust myself with loving you, loving you
For the next two years I put my nose to the grind
During all my free time I wrote rhyme after rhyme
The sound of success was appealing to me
So I started taking music more seriously
Everything was going great, I moved to a different state
It was probably the best decision that I ever made
It was tough at first leaving my family and friends
But I don't wanna look back and wonder what could've been
I've always had the ambition to raise the standard
If it's something I love then I won't take no for an answer
Because I believe in myself, my dreams, and that I'm gonna make it
I've smelt the success now it's time for me to taste it
I'm just doing what I love, turning hobbies into jobs
But I can't take the credit so I give it to God
Dear Lord, I put my life in your hands
You B the artist and help me hold the pen
Hold on to whatever you find baby (So I'mma Hold On)
Hold on to whatever will get you through (So I'mma Hold On)
Hold on to whatever you find baby (So I'mma Hold On)
I don't trust myself with loving you, loving you
