Nick Columbia - RENT DUE Lyrics
Official

My condolences to every instrumental
Put my heart into the beat it's weighing heavy on my mental
Fourth grade I was ten summer going into middle school
I picked up a pen and started writing down my visuals
Before I even blinked I saw that it became a ritual
Regardless what you think I didn't care about the ridicule
I started to receive from everybody that I seen at school
Couldn't let it stop me from achieving what I was meant to
Rap battles on the bus I clapped back at every bully
From reactions that I got I started understanding fully
The potential that I harnessed as an artist who was starving so why would I even eat when I could just have a harvest
In the fall of 2012 I lost my passion for the music
Copping J's and chasing girls was the fuel for my amusement
But I'll never forget the day my dad brought me to the studio
He said if it's your dream than you should chase it Nicky you should know
From that day forward I started to take it serious
Recording all night and sleeping through first period
Every line that I wrote and every bar that I spit
They just kept getting better that's really no argument
Used to take the whip and park the shit in vacant parking lots and leave around three o'clock when people needed parking spots
I was writing till my hands cramped
Like a damn champ
Cause I don't need a bitch to have my back like a tramp stamp
In the moment that I lost my dad it's like the motive left to
Got depressed and started stressing thinking that I'm next too
If I missed a call my homies thought that I was dead too
Like jumping in a swimming pool with a pair of lead shoes
Never listen to any of the bullshit that they fed you
Is what my father told me now I'm rapping like the rent due
Plus I got a shawty that'll do it if I said to
She be tryna f*ck but I only want the head boo
Went to California with my brother after Covid
Discovered a new sound and started to gain motion
I was drawing inspiration from the views of the ocean
And was seeing life different when I was on the west coast
Made the move to Arizona but I wasn't in my zone
Was only there about year before I moved back home
Started locking in
Tapping in
Fell in love with rap again
Linked up with Cez now I'm really back in action kid
In life you make your own luck there ain't no accidents
Used to question where I'd end up now I know what's happening
As a kid I used to love to rap
And I'd play pretend too
But now I'm in the studio and rapping like the rent's due
It's Nick
