STUDIO:
I m sure this is going to be a fascinating match. The crowd are ready, we re ready, are the players ready? Over to your commentators, Barry Thomas and Charlie Stevens.

COMMENTATOR 1:
Thank you, Graham. Yes, the players are ready for battle to commence. They are just having a quick warm up before we get underway. It s very much a David vs Goliath match, with Mickey Evans, the world number three, against Peter von Hassel, ranked 143rd in the world. Von Hassel has been putting in some amazing performances over the course of this championship, winning four of his last five matches, and a win rate over the year of 42%, knocking out Danny Furman who made last year s semi-final, Alfie McFarlane this year s number five seed. Can there be yet another big upset?

COMMENTATOR 2:
Yeah, it could happen. He s been looking fantastic, he really has, and has been honing his craft over the past 12 months or so, and to his credit the hard work is starting to pay off, but can he do it on the big stage? He looked a little nervy in the closing stages of the last round, just needs to try and keep his emotions under control, and we may see another spectacular performance.

COMMENTATOR 1:
Last night s match was absolutely sensational, with Eddie McGowan only winning by a couple of darts, knocking out Alistair Stones; it was extremely tense. So, who will face McGowan in the next round? Evans or von Hassel? Here we go!

REFEREE:
Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen. First set, first leg. To throw first, Mickey Hard Man Evans. Game on!

COMMENTATOR 1:
It is going to be a very tricky game for von Hassel; he has been working hard, but unfortunately hasn t been climbing the rankings; has put in a few stunning performances of late, but hasn t managed to find much consistency.

REFEREE:
60.

COMMENTATOR 2:
I agree, but hopefully with a couple of back-to-back victories he can gain some momentum in this tournament.

REFEREE:
56.

COMMENTATOR 1:
We can see Peter s mum and dad in the audience, who have been instrumental in his training. Obviously his dad Fredrick, who was world number one back in the early 1990s.

REFEREE:
60.

COMMENTATOR 1:
And not sure if you knew this, Charlie, but his mum also had a very short career in darts, reaching number 176 in the world.

REFEREE:
100.

COMMENTATOR 2:
The treble 20 getting a cheer there.
No, I didn t, actually. Hopefully he can go on a bit of a run, put some results together, and start to make more of a name for himself.

REFEREE:
93.

COMMENTATOR 1:
We ve seen over recent years, when you start giving the crowd something to cheer about they start to push you on, which in turn gives you that little bit of extra confidence when you re up against it.

REFEREE:
60.

COMMENTATOR 2:
We certainly saw that last week when Dave Pier struck nine treble 20s in a row; that was in the second set, and then just gave him the boost to take the early lead and dominate the match.

REFEREE:
134.

COMMENTATOR 2:
It s extremely hard when you go behind to shrug it off and get back into the game.

REFEREE:
60. Evans requires 154.

COMMENTATOR 1:
Evans needs a treble 20, treble 18 and the double 20 to take the first leg.

(Three dart hits)

REFEREE:
57.

COMMENTATOR 1:
Can t take the lead yet, just missing the treble 20, but looking in good shape.

REFEREE:
140!

COMMENTATOR 2:
Now it gets interesting. Von Hassel there showing good concentration, getting two treble 20s, putting Evans under a little bit of pressure now.

REFEREE:
57. Evans requires 40.

COMMENTATOR 1:
Can von Hassel win? Take an early lead? Needs treble 15 and the double 20 to take the first leg.

(Two darts hit)

Needs the bull to take the win!

(Dart just misses)

So close!

REFEREE:
60. Evans requires 40.

COMMENTATOR 2:
Just rattles the side of the bullseye, and has to settle for 60. All down to Evans now, who needs the double 20 to take the first leg.

COMMENTATOR 1:
Evans steps up. How s your nerves, son?

(Dart hit)

What nerves? Evans takes the first leg. How will von Hassel respond?

REFEREE:
60. Game, Evans. Von Hassel to play. Game on!

COMMENTATOR 2:
He s got to take his chances, and he had one there, just millimetres away from the bull.

COMMENTATOR 1:
They are the margins, fractions of a centimetre, and you lose the leg or even the set. Von Hassel to start the second leg.

REFEREE:
180!

COMMENTATOR 2:
That is exactly what he needed to get back into this match. Give the crowd something to work with, something to cheer, and they ll cheer! They ll be right behind you!

REFEREE:
139.

COMMENTATOR 2:
What can von Hassel do this time?

(Two darts hit treble 20)

Surely not another one? Steadies himself.

REFEREE:
180!

COMMENTATOR 1:
Wow! He s back in it! Great work with the darts, beautiful placement. You always want to try and aim just left or right of the treble 20 so you ve got some room. If you hit straight down the middle, it becomes a little bit trickier.

REFEREE:
100.
