Nick Johnson - Hometown Lyrics
Official

Yeah
Can you turn me up a little bit
Love
This feels like a summer night cruising through the hometown
Yeah, uh, yeah
This feels like a summer night cruising through the hometown, yeah
Yeah, uh, yeah
Let's take it back to a place that we all remember
Where it always feels right when we're making the wrong decisions
Summer nights we like to hang all the moments we forget 'em
And you know we got a thing for them girls from south of the river
Calling all my people that sun up we on a mission
And when it goes down we get to moving around
Loading up the whip, we kicking it through the town
Headed to another function, you know that it's going down, yeah
Some things change, and others don't
Thinking 'bout the times as they come and go
No matter where I go I'm always coming home
Staring at the sunset all I'm thinking is
This feels like a summer night cruising through the hometown
Yeah, one more time
This feels like a summer night cruising through the hometown, yeah
Love
I just copped another fit, I'm ready to get it started
Text the group chat with a move and we getting on it
Bout to kick it with my folks that I knew from back in the hallway
3AM, we're 20 deep in the coney after the party
Junior League World Series, then later we hit the carni
Early morning hoop runs with the gang
We were just kids, no jobs just vibes tryna hang
Looking back at how far that we've came
Damn
Some things change, and others don't
Thinking 'bout the times as they come and go
No matter where I go I'm always coming home
Staring at the sunset all I'm thinking is
This feels like a summer night cruising through the hometown
Yeah, one more time
This feels like a summer night cruising through the hometown, yeah
Love
Yeah, yeah
The Purple Summer
Really made this song out of inspiration and thinking bout
A lot of people think that when you come from small towns you can't really do big things
But I want this to be like a living testament of
You can come from small places and do great things, really big things
Whether you feel like a big fish in a small pond or you feel like a small fish in a big pond
It don't matter your circumstance
You can do anything you want, um
Through this past summer, these last few years just creating things, um
And just seeing myself evolve, you know what I'm saying
It's kind of, it's very special and it's very sentimental to me
And just thinking about the upbringing that I had
And how it's so unique
You know what I'm saying
I wouldn't really wanna be from anywhere else
You know what I'm saying
And I'm proud of where I come from and I'm proud of who I am
And I'm proud of the person that it's made me to be
You know what I'm saying
I'm in the world creating things
I got great people around me
Had great experiences growing up
I've made life long relationships that, um
That are gonna last and stand the test of time
You know what I'm saying
I run into people that I grew up with all the time and we can kind of
Reflect and just think about the things that were unique to us in our upbringing
Coming from such a small town and just
The area, you know what I'm saying, like
The whole Downriver area and just
It lets you realize that it's not about where you're from
It's about where you're going, um
But where you're from is important though
You know what I'm saying
Because it's
It hold a key piece in my heart, so
Fasho fasho
I ain't no local rapper though
