Noah Scott - The Oyster Lyrics
Official

The oyster then walked down a path he'd forgot
He'd been moving in straight lines for ever so long
Now his feet were a-winding and friends he was finding
And dreams intertwining like strands of a song
The oyster had read that the earth was a friend
That would be very happy to see him again
So he searched in the mud for a face he could greet
Found a smile in the root and a hand on the tree
So he wandered and pondered just how to greet one such as she
Singing la da da-die
The oyster next morning awoke to surprise
And he worried his singing had drowsied her eyes
For the frost on the earth a fine blanket had laid
And she slept then as still as the day she was made
The oyster then roamed o'er that frigid plain
But could rouse not the earth though he cried many names
And they peeled from his tongue like the call of a bell
Soon he wearied in voice and in body as well
So he laid down to rest and was frozen in place where he fell
Dreaming la da da-die
When sunlight returned and the oyster was thawed
He then lifted his head but did wander no more
For in cold and in slumber a dream-meal was shared
And the oyster did feast on what earth had prepared
The fruits they were fresh and the bread it was good
And though neither did speak much then was understood
Between oyster and earth of those paths hard and wide
And the earth held her smile while the oyster he cried
And her arm held him firm as she offered a place by her side
Singing la da da-die
