Official

Dear Mr and Mrs Smith I must apologize
For the state in which your Timmy's returned
No doubt a true surprise
Our camping trip was meant to be a time of joy and fun
But everything that could go wrong
Went wrong for everyone
It started with the weather as we pitched our tents a team
The sky turned dark and stormy the likes I've never seen
A flash of lightning thunder roared the rain began to pour
Our campsite turned into a lake we floated to the shore
The next day we went hiking map and compass in my hand
Alas the trail eluded us and things got out of hand
We stumbled into bear tracks and before we could retreat
A grizzly came out of the woods and chased us up a tree!
Undeterred we tried some fishing down by the peaceful stream
With hooks and lines and cheerful hearts we sought the angler's dream
But poor young Timmy cast his line with not a trace of fear
And somehow managed quite a feat he hooked it in his ear!
Returning to our campsite hoping all would now be well
We wandered through some ivy leaves and soon began to swell
The itching and the scratching were just the start I fear
For then a swarm of wasps attacked and stung us ear to rear!
On our final night a campfire seemed the perfect end
To share our tales and sing our songs to laugh and make amends
But ghostly stories spooked the lads and shadows caused a fright
The boys all screamed and clung to me throughout the eerie night
So Mr and Mrs Smith as you can plainly see
The camping trip was quite a mess and filled with misery
But Timmy showed true bravery amidst the trying trials
Lesson for a boy his age to last the many miles
So here's a toast to Timmy and all the scouts so bold
For facing every challenge through the wet the wild the cold
We'll try again next summer with lessons learned you bet
And hope our next adventures contain no regret!
