My Country Too bpm 129. By Parris Bowens Sr.
Intro / Talk
Hey, yall. There's a lot of talk going on about what's wrong with America.
Verse 1
National diversity, political disparity
And news media in disarray
The demagogue we used to be is falling to banality
And institutions going astray
With rising gas prices and the cost-of-living dicey
Seems like help is so far away
Yet when I look around, I see good people still abound
Things are not all bad as they say
Vs 2 Trouble in land, Fighting in the streets, it makes us all feel really very sad
We know we got do something and figure it out 'fore things go from worse to bad
(But what I want to tell you is) that even in this here mess, there's a lot of fine neighbors all around
Even in tough neighborhoods I've found, still love abounds.
Chorus 1
Say what you wanna say, think what you gonna think
It's my country too
Take your position bout the nation's condition
It's my country too
Republican or democrat; anglo, in-between or black
It's my country too
Don't care about entitlement, pedigree or law degree
It's my country too
V3 Civic leaders seem to have lost their way and in a sense that's true
But that don't mean they don't care about the country, just like me and you.
The thing we got to do, is take the whole village, all of us do our part
Let no nonsense stand in our way, back to back, hands together, make a new start
V4 Common sense and unity, That's right, it's our best and biggest key
Respecting mankind through the law is our one true democracy
The land of the free and
The home of the brave, on that we stand united
This here's America, my friend, you know what, we have decided...
... bullies are not invited
