We sit back and watch as communities fail
We sit back and watch as our ships set sail
Worn at the knees like age old jeans
Feeling hemmed in and losing our dreams
All of us seeing the story unfold
Societal norms still keep us cajoled
The sweat shops of industry filling our thoughts
Losing the battle, losing our hearts
Tattered the blanket that once warmed our souls
Frayed are the nerves stretched thin through our tolls
Hearing humanity's unsettling screams
Society's fabric comes apart at the seams
We listen to leaders, spinning their yarns
Promising fortunes, through bold faced charms
Hearing them speak of the future ahead
Virtuous speeches, their actions I dread
Like protections afforded a thimbled thumb
We seek to simply, cover and run
The seamstress of liberty is being shunned
All of us left, decidedly numb
Tattered the blanket that once warmed our souls
Frayed are the nerves stretched thin through our tolls
Hearing humanity's unsettling screams
Society's fabric comes apart at the seams
Woven throughout, our history shows
We can only take, so many blows
If we're to win, if we can escape
We better not sit here, our mouths all agape
