Ever since I was a child I have had these dreams
They impose on my mind like dark beams
It's like my body wants to make me feel unsafe
When I try to outrun it its a constant chase
It started out with monsters underneath the bed
With increasing age there were scarier things ahead
My real life fears converted into my nightly dreams
My dreams converted into daily life fears
Crawling in my skin
I can feel the darkness closing in
My patience wearing thin
It's like its coming from within
My dreams could break my heart
More than anything could in reality
My nightmares, they could tear me apart
I keep searching for the beauty in my dreams
On certain days I can't tell them apart
If it's just a dream, why do I have a pounding heart?
It's hard to explain, it's like my worst fears come to life
Like my girlfriend died, she will never get to be my wife
And even though she is standing right in front of me
My subconscious state is all I can see
The sound of my beating heart
I can't tell real life and dreams apart
Its literally a living nightmare
My visions don't change no matter how hard I stare
