I used to get rolled up like boogers
Got made fun of in school
I wasn't good looking
I had nothing cooking
I sucked at sports
Got ran all over on the basketball courts
Got chased from the schoolyard
To the front porch
Until the day I told 'em
I ain't running no more
I remember Richard Evans
In the third grade at 4'11''
I had to bring him down to my 4'1"
Scrappy fella
A son of a gun
If ever knuckled up
It wasn't for fun
I started acting more ignorant
Acting like ninja and
Truth be told
I wasn't anybody's trigger man
Walking like a thug
So I ran with them
Sold a few drugs
And threw some hands with them
Anybody stepping up
I took a stand with them
I was only doing that
Because my man's with 'em
And it sure felt good finally having some friends
As the days rolled by I started calling them kin
I was living like a fatherless child
Yet my father was a daddy
With that fatherly style
I was rebelling with no cause
Improperly Wild
And when he's looking at me now
He's probably proud
Because I'm living like a different man
Glory to God
To many of my old friends
I'm totally odd
Though I'm not what I ought to be
I'm nothing like I used to be
I used to be a slave
But now I'm free as Jesus uses me
And I'm so glad that He chooses me
To glorify His name
Born of the Spirit
I know that I've been changed
And that romance with my sin
I no longer feel the same
Because that change in my heart
It is real to the brain
I'm transformed
Jesus is the Head
Roll out
That's a modern translation
When He said, "Go out"
And preach the gospel the lost world
No dinosaur
I'm talking every little boy and girl
Man or woman
From the bald to the Jheri curl
Believe the Gospel
The blessed and most precious pearl
Repent and come to Jesus
Salvation is free
Discipleship will cost you
But verse 13
Of chapter 4 in Philippians
Go there and read
How we can bear it all through
Christ the King
I'm talking all things
From nightmares to dreams
We have no reason to worry
Cause He's there on the scene
He's a wonderful counselor
A Shepherd and my Mediator
He's the truth and the standard
He keeps me centered like equator
As for the bitterness
That come from my past
I'll be a witness
That these troubles don't last
Unlike the Sovereign God
Who has it all in His hands
This is all in His plan
It's only by His grace I stand
He orders my breath
Like He orders my steps
He's nothing less
Than the Lord of my steps
He's Sovereign!
