One day along my way I met Old Mother Tree
I asked why is everybody wrapped in leaves but me
She told me take a visit down to Mr. Mirror Tree
There you will find out who you are meant to be
When I arrived I said hello but no one came to greet
There I learned that I had wings hidden inside of me
When I got home I asked my Mom do they grow for all to see
She said dear child wings around this town aren't meant to be
I felt confused I felt so lost then why are they inside
And with a kiss she gave me leaves I'm wrapped in these to hide
Your wings won't grow and they won't know my child you'll fit right in
Soon as your done with your last wrap your easy life begins
But I thought these wings inside are pretty in every shade
I bet that they will cut the air sharper than any blade
I put the leaves under my bed and said these I won't need
I need these wings to come about without I'm incomplete
I ran outside Old Mother Tree will you grant my wings to be
I'll jump I'll scream I'll even hang upside down from a tree
She said crawl up it will take a bit but you will understand
Somethings in life need time and just don't work by wand in hand
So there I hung wrapped up in me full of cheer and glee
When I got done I flew back down to town for all to see
I showed my Mom Dad and friends but on their face was fright
I felt ashamed I'm to blame and then flew out of sight
Old Mother Tree came walking by to find me in a cave
She said Dear Child, come with haste, the light is for the brave
You have your wings you took the time you did work to hide
If those that love you are to ashamed you have the wings to fly
She wiped my tears child fly up their is something I need you to see
And when I looked just over the cliff their were things that looked like me
