On these cobblestones 'neath the old town's glow
Where the roots of history deeply flow
Although my own were a world away
An immigrant's child as they say
The church bell's ring was a foreign sound
In its echo a new life to be found
A journey from lands my heart did roam
I arrived with a question- Where is home?
They say Welcome Back it's a new day
But where was home anyway?
In this town of firsts where I came to be
Home is a shadow just beyond me
On these streets that bore a father's fears
Laughter collected a mother's tears
The town folk they smile their ways steadfast
But I've lived between futures and pasts
The town square lights and a stranger's smile
Lovers in hand walked down the aisle
In search for belonging a place of my own
All I could think was Where is home?
They say Welcome Back it's a new day
How was it back home anyway?
From the rich soil where I left to be-
Living in the land of the Brave & Free
Now I'm here where the oak tree stands
A memory slipping through my hands
Now when I wonder I've come to see
That home is the beacon that guides me
