Name Origin
Billy Gibbons stated in his book "Rock & Roll Gearhead", that it came from the name of blues master B.B. King. They wanted to call themselves Z.Z. King but that was too similar to their hero. So, they figured that "King" was at the "top" so thus settled on ZZ Top.

Billy Gibbons - vocals, guitar
Dusty Hill - bass, keyboards, vocals
Frank Beard - drums, percussion

Past members:
Lanier Greig - organ, bass (1969; died 2013)

ZZ Top Quotes:
Can't do it, simply cause underneath 'em is too ugly.

Sounds like the blues are composed of feeling, finesse, and fear.

“[Tonight and tomorrow night the band will wrap up its latest six-month jaunt at the Beacon Theater, its first appearance in New York City in a decade.] We're seeing the end of a lengthy, successful tour, ... and we decided we'd land it right smack dab at the center of the universe.”

“Rock 'n' roll and automobiles have always had this synergistic connection,”

“We've been coming out with you for a long time, ... And it's the same three guys playing the same three chords right here.”
