Way back in the mountains
Way back by the country side
There lived a girl named Jenny Jones
And she could dance all night
Jenny was a young girl
Her future to be told
Her father told her Jenny dear
Marry when you get old
Dance Jenny Jones
Dance til the break of day
Don't let a boy in coal man's hat
Take your dance away
But Jenny loved her Dancing
She practiced and she prayed
But how could she earn her a living
When none who watched would pay
She wore her little heart out
Working all the time
But her shoes would tear
As served the people
Fat on food and wine
One day a young coal miner
Came and caught her view
They fell in love and went away
Jenny's dance was through
Well I'm That young coal miner
And let me tell you dear
Now I'm singing on this stage
With Jenny dancing here
